A vederlo così, con il suo look alla Steve Carell in “40 Anni Vergine” Mark Pincus sembra l’uomo più felice della Terra. E del resto questo ragazzone ha tutti i motivi per sorridere, visto che è l’ideatore di titoli milionari come FarmVille, CityVille e della maggior parte dei giochi Zynga.

Eppure il fondatore della società non sta passando un buon momento e come riportano varie fonti Pincus sarebbe andato vicino alle lacrime nel corso di un recente meeting finanziario con diversi investitori. Zynga è in crisi, le azioni dell’azienda valgono poco più di due dollari (contro i dieci iniziali) e nel complesso la percezione verso Zynga è decisamente negativa.

Lo studio sembra aver perso il suo tocco magico e gli ultimi prodotti (ad eccezione di FarmVille 2) non sembrano aver riscosso il successo sperato. Negli ultimi mesi Zynga ha lanciato diversi titoli che non hanno centrato gli obiettivi e l’acquisizione di Draw Something (costata 180 milioni di dollari) ha dato una bella botta alle casse della società.

Nonostante l’imminente arrivo di titoli come CityVille 2 Zynga non sembra in grado di riprendersi da questo brutto periodo. Lo scopo di Mark Pincus ora sarà quello di traghettare l’azienda da sviluppatrice di giochi social a editore di titoli mobile per smartphone e tablet, mercato che viene generalmente considerato più sicuro rispetto a quello dei giochi Facebook.
