Yahoo chiuderà MyBlogLog a maggio

Dopo svariate conferme e smentite, è stata fissata la data di chiusura della community di MyBlogLog da parte di Yahoo per il giorno 24 maggio 2011. La comunicazione è arrivata ieri a tutti gli iscritti alla community, tramite email. Il destino di MyBlogLog anticipa quello di altri servizi Yahoo come Del.icio.us, che verranno sospesi a tempo indeterminato.

MyBlogLog era stata acquisito da Yahoo nei primi mesi del 2007 per 10 milioni di dollari. Il servizio permetteva ai blogger di creare facilmente una community di lettori collegata al blog, alla maniera di Google Connect. Ma proprio la concorrenza (e il successo) di applicazioni simili a MyBlogLog sembra essere alla base della chiusura del servizio.

Il widget di MyBlogLog che permetteva al proprietario di un blog di sapere chi fossero i suoi visitatori, col passare del tempo è stato soppiantato da altri widget. E non stiamo parlando solo di Google Connect, ma soprattutto del badge Facebook per fan page, che con un semplice click su “mi piace” fa guadagnare lettori e aumenta la diffusione dei contenuti sui social networks.

Nonostante il calo di popolarità, la chiusura di MyBlogLog ha sollevato qualche malcontento. Al momento il servizio risulta ancora attivo su circa 45.000 blog, perciò la politica di Yahoo ci sembra incomprensibile. Analizzando bene le cose, la soluzione migliore non ci sembra quella di chiudere, ma quella di vendere, anche per contenere, in parte, le perdite.
