Windows Live Messenger 9

Poco tempo fa è stata lanciata da Microsoft la versione beta di Live Messenger 9 e, in attesa che esca la release definitiva, possiamo iniziare a vedere cosa è cambiato rispetto alla versione precedente.

Per prima cosa occorre aggiornare il nostro Messenger scaricando la versione beta dal web, onde evitare problemi è possibile scaricarla dal sito ufficiale cliccando qui, installiamo i componenti aggiuntivi desiderati e lanciamo l’applicazione: ci aspetterà una versione migliorata nella grafica e con qualche gradevole sorpresa.

L’aspetto grafico è quello che più è stato aggiornato; il layout è morbido e colorato in misura maggiore rispetto alla precedente versione, ed è possibile notare fin da subito l’implementazione degli indicatori di stato visibili accanto ad ogni contatto (verde per lo stato “disponibile”, rosso per “occupato”, arancione per “non disponibile” e bianco per “invisibile”).

Inoltre è possibile modificare l’interfaccia dei contatti aggiungendo o meno la rispettiva immagine accanto ad ognuno di essi, scegliendo tra tre possibili dimensioni e il tipo di ordinazione (alfabetica oppure in base agli indicatori di stato).

Rimanendo in tema di contatti sono stati introdotti due ulteriori modalità di raggruppamento, ovvero quella dei preferiti per quanto riguarda le categorie e quella dei “gruppi”, totalmente nuova, ma analizziamole una per volta partendo dalla prima.

La categoria dei preferiti si collocherà sempre in cima alla lista e qui possiamo inserire i contatti con cui chattiamo più frequentemente trascinandoli all’interno della categoria stessa, oppure semplicemente premendo il tasto sinistro del mouse sul contatto e selezionare l’opzione “aggiungi a preferiti”.

Per quanto riguarda i cosi detti gruppi, li potremmo associare al servizio offerto da Google “Google Groups”, o a qualche social network come Twingr. Creando un gruppo in base ad un determinato criterio (per esempio Colleghi di lavoro, Compagni di classe, ecc.) tutti i contatti che inviteremo aggiorneranno automaticamente la loro lista gruppo con tutti coloro che vi faranno parte. Accedendo poi alle impostazioni del gruppo (tasto sinistro del mouse) sarà possibile modificare svariati parametri e entrare nello spazio web dedicato loggandoci con il proprio indirizzo msn. Facendo così, possiamo usufruire di tutti i servizi proposti, come ad esempio la condivisione delle foto, aprire una discussione come fosse un forum e addirittura usufruire di un organizer online, in modo da poter coordinare l’attività di tutti i partecipanti al gruppo.

Un’altra implementazione è la barra delle novità posta in basso alla pagina, che ci aggiornerà costantemente sull’operato dei vari contatti circa le loro immagini personali e le modifiche apportate al testo personalizzabile del contatto.

Ma non finisce qui perchè vi sono una moltitudine di altre chicche come ad esempio l’avatar video, oppure il menù semi trasparente attivabile passando sopra un contatto il puntatore del mouse, semplificando notevolmente l’utilizzo di alcune azioni, o ancora passando il mouse appena sotto la crocetta rossa in alto a destra apparirà una simpatica “orecchia” che, cliccando su di essa, ci permetterà velocemente di modificare il layout del nostro Messenger in pochi facili passi.

Un’ultima segnalazione di notevole importanza riguarda la possibilità di chattare non solo con utenti Yahoo, ma anche di Gtalk, AIM e ICQ. Sfortunatamente per utilizzare questa funzionalità dobbiamo aspettare il rilascio della versione definitiva, stessa cosa vale per i bug presenti ma siamo sicuri che la versione definitiva non ci deluderà: le premesse sono ottime.
