Virginia Twitter

Una ricerca su Twitter svolta dalla College of Computer and Innovation Science della Northeastern University, in collaborazione con la prestigiosa l’università di  Harvard ha rivelato che la Virginia è il posto più triste di tutti gli Stati Uniti.

I ricercatori delle due università americane hanno realizzato uno speciale algoritmo che analizza le parole ed i termini usati nei post su Twitter per determinare l’umore degli utenti. Ed i risultati sono molto interessanti. I tweet analizzati dal potente algoritmo sono stati ben 300 milioni.

I risultati, dicevamo. Secondo la ricerca, gli utenti che abitano nella costa ovest sono molto più felici di quelli che abitano ad est. Il giorno più bello della settimana è la domenica, mentre quello peggiore non è il lunedì, stranamente, ma il giovedì, in particolare le ore pomeridiane sono considerate tra le più tristi di tutta la settimana. Il perchè è presto detto, il giovedì pomeriggio sono tutti stanchi e sapere di dover lavorare comunque per un altro giorno prima del weekend rende le persone tristi e frustrate.

Gli stati più allegri invece sembrano essere Florida, Georgia, Alabama e Louisiana, mentre il più triste in assoluto è, appunto, la Virginia. Gli abitanti della Virginia sono poco incilini al sorriso, secondo la ricerca, ed in genere sono scontenti della loro posizione sociale, del lavoro, dei propri amici, insomma, praticamente di tutto!

L’algoritmo utilizzato ha dato buoni risultati secondo i ricercatori che lo hanno messo a punto, ed in futuro potrebbe essere utilizzato a livello professionale, ad esempio dai governi o dalle organizzazioni mediche e sanitarie, che potranno usaro questo strumento per monitorare la situazione in certe aree geografiche.

Sarebbe interessante vedere una ricerca del genere anche nel nostro paese, o comunque in Europa, per capire veramente se noi italiani siamo sempre allegri, giocherelloni e spensierati, così come vuola la leggenda…
