twitter tradotto in altre lingue

Ci ha messo un po’ di tempo, ma Twitter alla fine ha conquistato anche la nostra penisola, tanto che il servizio di microblogging ideato da Biz Stone sta cercando volontari per tradurre Twitter anche in italiano.

Twitter è attualmente disponibile solo in inglese e giapponese, ma sono in arrivo le traduzioni in francese, italiano, tedesco, spagnolo, grazie all’aiuto di traduttori volontari reclutati tra gli stessi utenti del microblog. Nessuna tecnologia sofisticata, dunque, ma un aiuto “umano”, e perciò more friendly.

Sarà la stessa comunità di Twitter a scegliere tramite il proprio voto la traduzione che si ritiene più giusta e comprensibile anche da chi non parla inglese. Una sorta di democrazia telematica che speriamo porterà a buoni risultati. La versione più votata diventerà poi la traduzione ufficiale del blog, e finalmente Twitter parlerà italiano.

L’operazione mira ad ampliare il numero di iscritti in Europa, e a conquistare un bacino sempre maggiore di utenti.

  2. Anch’io ero stata invitata, ma c’erano diverse cose che non mi convincevano:

    Detto questo, l’operazione in sé presenta dei grossi limiti:

    •ho la sensazione che la scelta degli utenti sia stata fatta senza particolari filtri. Se ci sono 100 potenziali traduttori, e di questi solo 5 hanno esperienze significative di localizzazione, il rischio è quello di avere una traduzione di scarsa qualità e poco uniforme;
    •la mancanza di un leader e di regole di stile condivise a priori è un buon metodo per creare un’accozzaglia di stringhe, non un prodotto localizzato a dovere;
    •dal punto di vista tecnico: delle “localization note” associate alle stringhe contenenti variabili e parti da non tradurre sarebbe molto più utile del generico avviso che si ottiene quando si inizia la traduzione.
    In realtà il problema principale è un altro: perché mai dovrei tradurre gratuitamente un’applicazione web che raccoglie milioni di dollari? Per avere un badge nel mio profilo che mi segnala come traduttore e farmi bello con gli amici? Per vedere nuove funzioni in anteprima (ma di cui non potrò parlare)?

    of plagorism or copyright violation? My site has a lot of exclusive
    content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it
    appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement.
    Do you know any methods to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d truly appreciate

    When I look at your blog in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some
    overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
