Twitter blocca il porno e altri contenuti sensibili su Android e iOS

Ad inizio mese il team di Twitter ha reso disponibili le nuove versioni delle sue app per device Android e iOS. Tra le principali novità introdotte la sincronizzazione dei messaggi è stata senza alcun dubbio la funzione che ha riscosso maggior successo tra gli utenti.

Il team alle spalle del cinguettante social network non ha però fatto alcun accenno ad un’altra importante feature che ha scelto di mettere a disposizione di tutti gli utenti che si servono delle sue applicazioni mobile. Per impostazione predefinita, infatti, ora le app mobile di Twitter specifiche per dispositivi Android e per iOS bloccano la visualizzazione dei file multimediali porno e con altri contenuti sensibili (ad esempio violenza e procedure mediche).

Tutte le immagini identificate da Twitter come non adatte effettuando la scansione delle parole e dei metadati vengono ora sostituite dalla visualizzazione di un messaggio, The following media may contain sensitive material, che segnala il tipo di contenuto presente.

L’utente ha dunque la possibilità di cliccare sulla voce View per visualizzare il tweet o può selezionare la voce Always show me sensitive media per non avere più a che fare con il filtro.

Non tutti gli utenti, infatti, gradiscono la visione del porno e di altri contenuti sensibili sulla timeline di Twitter, specie se mostrati senza alcun preavviso e senza consenso. Se a tale dato si somma poi il fatto che non tutti gli utilizzatori di Twitter sono maggiorenni e che anzi i bambini che scrivono tweet sono sempre più in aumento allora la funzionalità resa disponibile dalla squadra alle spalle del cinguettante servizio di microblogging assume sicuramente non poca importanza.

Con la nuova feature è però possibile porre fine all’effetto sorpresa senza dover applicare una censura totale.

Il nuovo sistema di blocco dei contenuti sensibili sembra però non funzionare ancora alla perfezione. Il sito web All Things D segnala, a tal proposito, che in alcuni casi Twitter blocca anche tweet “innocenti”.
