Larry Bird

Biz Stone, uno dei co-fondatori di Twitter, ha confermato recentemente quello che tutti sospettavano da tempo, ovvero che il logo del social network sia una sorta di tributo a Larry Bird, ex giocatore dei Boston Celtics, due volte campione NBA e tre volte MPV della lega a metà degli anni 80.

L’ipotesi, a dir la verità, circolava già da molto tempo, per il semplice fatto che la mascotte di Twitter si chiama Larry ed è un uccello, Larry Bird appunto. Biz Stone, nativo di Boston, ha scelto questo nome ispirandosi al suo giocatore di basket preferito, vero idolo della sua infanzia.

Del resto, il rapporto tra i giocatori NBA e Twitter è sempre stato fortissimo, LeBron James e soci sono stati tra i primi a credere nelle potenzialità di questa piattaforma, così come la stessa NBA, che oggi conta oltre quattro milioni di followers.
