Ecco i Tumbeasts, la risposta di Tumblr alla fail whale di Twitter

Chi ha mangiato il vostro Tumblr? Ma i Tumbeasts, naturalmente.
Questo potrebbe essere il motto che accompagna l’ultima trovata di Tumblr, il re dei microblog.

I Tumbeasts da ieri sono le mascotte ufficiali delle pagine di errore di Tumblr, conosciute anche come error 503. Un gruppo di mostriciattoli verdi che vanno considerati come la risposta alla fail whale di Twitter. e se la balena bianca è diventata così famosa da ispirare gadget e perfino una linea di gioielli, probabilmente la stessa sorte toccherà anche ai Tumbeasts.

I Tumbeasts sono stati disegnati da Matthew Inman, disegnatore e illustratore del sito di web comics The Oatmeal che, esasperato dai continui messaggi di errore di Tumblr, ha deciso di dare vita a queste creature selvagge per spiegare ai suoi fan il motivo del malfunzionamento. Naturalmente la vignetta è stata postata su Tumblr dove in una sola giornata ha ottenuto più di 3000 commenti, reblogs e likes.

Il successo è stato così immediato che lo staff di Tumblr ha deciso di adottare i mostriciattoli per le sue pagine di errore, sostituendo l vecchio messaggio We’ll be back shortly (torneremo a breve) con questo:

We may have forgotten to feed the wild Tumbeasts that roam our datacenter, which often results in unexpected downtime due to gnawing and/or mutiny. Animal control has been alerted.

In questa anteprima Tumblr si scusa per aver dimenticato di dare da mangiare ai Tumbeasts selvatici che si aggirano nel data center, facendo scoppiare un ammutinamento di queste creature verdi e pelose, e rassicura gli utenti che la protezione animali è stata già avvertita.

Una maniera simpatica per superare i problemi della piattaforma che ha dato via in rete ad una vera Tumbeasts Mania, con il Tumblr ufficiale dei Tumbeasts e perfino un account Twitter.

Vi consiglio di fare subito amicizia con questi animaletti perché, se Tumblr continua a crescere con questo ritmo, ci toccherà vederli molto spesso.
