Torna il boom della moneta virtuale

Erano gli ormai lontani anni ’90 e l’economia virtuale stava cominciando a fare i primi passi verso l’esplosione. Oggi, ritorna un boom che è stato di moda oltre 20 anni fa grazie allo sviluppo della tecnologia e degli investitori che si sono trovati a combattare con una crisi finanziaria non prevista. Secondo le stime del China Market Research Group, il mercato di prodotti e servizi virtuali (stando ai dati della sola Cina), supera gli 800 milioni di dollari e cresce con un’evoluzione continua del 30%.
L’esempio più lampante che giunge agli occhi degli esperti di web economy è quello di Second Life, che raggiunge i 500 milioni di dollari in volume di affari annuo. Inoltre a questo dato vanno aggiunte tutte le app che sono distribuite in maniera sempre maggiore su Facebook o su MySpace. Seguono tutte le attività ludiche on-line quali i giochi Travian e Wizard 101 (che superano di gran lunga i 4 milioni di utenti).
Quello che in molti non calcolano mentre utilizzano questa tipologia di servizi, è che tra bit e pixel, circola moneta vera. La prima realtà virtuale di cui abbiamo già parlato tempo fa è stata Entropia Universe, un mondo tridimensionale utopico e pionieristico dove sono state effettuate le prime vere transazioni economiche in dollari passando per la Mind Bank.
Gareth Davis, sviluppatore di Facebook, ha annunciato che presto anche Facebook lancerà la sua moneta, proprio come i Linden Dollar di Second Life. La moneta dei Linden Lab ha dato però dimostrazione negli ultimi periodi che come quella reale, anche la moneta virtuale segue il percorso vitale di quella vera, questo perchè la crisi ha colpito anche il mondo di Second Life. Ma qualcosa di innovativo sta ancora accadendo nel mondo delle monete virtuali. Si parla della possibilità da parte di Mind Bank ce attende delle autorizzazioni dalle Banche Centrali di poter unificare la moneta virtuale per tutti i network al punto da poterla rendere interscambiabile. Molti sono però ancora gli studi in questo settore, anche perchè con l’aumentare dello sviluppo di questa tipologia di investimento, aumentano le organizzazioni criminali internazionali interessate all’argomento. Keneth Rijock, investigatore finanziario della World-Check, pensa che molte di queste associazioni infatti “userebbero i giochi di ruolo on line per riciclare denaro sporco”. Ebbene sono le leggi della cybereconomia.
