Un evento musicale studiato soprattutto per i social network di tutto il mondo. Stiamo parlando del MTV Music Awards. Se il canale musicale MTV risulta essere tra i più seguiti dai giovani per il suo palinsesto musicale, si può affermare che è anche uno dei network televisivi musicali che per primo si è avvalso della grande rete per proliferare i suoi contatti. Si può ricordare ad esempio già dal 1999, la grande presenza mediatica on line di questo network, realtà che gli altri canali TV hanno cominciato a scoprire solo dopo qualche anno.

Il palinsesto televisivo è mediato anche dal rapporto che gli utenti con la rete e con il sito web che più si va avanti, più diventa a tutti gli effetti una piattaforma social. Con il lancio del nuovo Music Awards, la rete decide però di spostarsi definitivamente verso il web, con la nascita di un definitivo palinsesto di programmi da vedere on demand sul web, oltre che la live chat in diretta per commentare e fare richiesta di canzoni. Secondo i dirigenti, al Music Awards è collegato soprattutto un grande evento di macro categorie musicali che permetterà agli utenti, anche non presenti in studio il giorno della registrazione, una presenza quasi reale sul campo. Tutto basato sulle fondamenta del futuro di conservare i profili utenti per tutta la durata della vita del sito web. Una community a tutti gli effetti che diventa social music network, direttamente partendo da studi televisivi.

Le categorie in concorso per il MTV Music Awards saranno: video musicale più innovativo, artista più seguito su Twitter, il ballo più virale, migliore performance di animali con strumento musicale e tante altre. Sicuramente on line si prospetta anche una valida alternativa al web comic, varrebbe a dire che ci saranno anche sezioni dedicate ai video irriverenti della rete che hanno un collegamento con la musica.
