Skype, script mette in mostra indirizzi IP

Microsoft compra SkypeUno script pubblicato da GitHub permette a possibili malintenzionati di scoprire l’indirizzo IP degli utenti connessi a Skype. La notizia è stata divulgata oggi dai principali organi di informazione specializzati, che lanciano l’allarme su una nuova falla che mette in pericolo la privacy dei clienti del celebre software VoIP.

Grazie allo script, che è attualmente offline, basta inserire il nome utente Skype della vittima nel box dedicato, cliccare sul pulsante “Search” e scoprire immediatamente l’indirizzo IP della stessa. Il discorso è valido soltanto nel caso sia ovviamente connessa in quel momento al servizio. L’indirizzo IP, tramite tool facilmente reperibili in rete, permette di scoprire nazione, città e persino quartiere dell’utente.

Il problema è stato subito preso in considerazione da Skype che ha annunciato lo studio di pronte misure per garantire la privacy e la sicurezza dei suoi consumatori, come ha annunciato un portavoce a mezzo stampa:

Stiamo indagando i rapporti circa la presenza di un nuovo strumento che permetterebbe di catturare l’ultimo indirizzo IP conosciuto di un utente su Skype. Si tratta di un problema che è stato sempre affrontato da tutte le società di software specializzate in peer-to-peer, e siamo dunque impegnati per garantire la sicurezza dei nostri clienti e stiamo prendendo misure specifiche per proteggerli

Quello della sicurezza è un problema chiave per Skype e per il funzionamento di un software di questo genere. L’azienda ne è consapevole, per questo proprio in questi giorni sembra stia studiando un mutamento nelle strategie in tal senso tramite dei supernodi affiancati questa volta da un nuovo sistema basato questa volta su server Linux. Questa novità, secondo quanto riporta le notizie, dovrebbe garantire a Skype non solo una migliore sicurezza complessiva, ma anche una maggior stabilità.

Si attendono chiaramente novità sia sul versante degli indirizzi IP, magari tramite un aggiornamento, sia sulla seconda questione.
