Project Titan, ecco le prime impressioni

In questi giorni ad alcuni di voi sarà apparso un messaggio nella home di Facebook che consiglia di aggiornare il sistema di posta. Questo aggiornamento altro non è che il tanto chiacchierato Project Titan, il sistema di messaggistica Facebook che integra email, chat e SMS.

Project Titan rappresenta una piccola rivoluzione del nostro modo di comunicare. Ma vediamo in maniera più approfondita di che si tratta.

Messaggi email: da oggi Facebook mette a disposizione una casella di posta del tipo [email protected] che conterrà i nostri messaggi di posta. Ma si tratta di un vero e proprio indirizzo email? Come previsto, non lo è. Sfortunatamente i tentativi di spedire un messaggio di posta elettronica al mio indirizzo Facebook è fallito miseramente. Non mi è chiaro se si tratta di un malfunzionamento temporaneo o se l’utilizzo della email è riservata solo ai contatti registrati su Facebook. Un’altra novità consiste nella sparizione della voce aggiornamenti. Gli aggiornamenti di pagina si trovano adesso sotto la voce “altri”. Poco utile, ma molto apprezzata, è l’introduzione delle emoticons. I segni “:-)” adesso sono automaticamente convertiti in faccine (smileys).

SMS: Facebook ora può essere utilizzata anche per inviare o ricevere messaggi di testo. Gli amici possono selezionare l’opzione “Invia al telefono” per inviare messaggi e il destinatario riceverà un SMS contenente il testo. E’ possibile rispondere direttamente dal telefono e gli amici riceveranno la risposta come messaggio Facebook.

Per inviare un nuovo messaggio a un amico tramite SMS, invia al numero 32665 (FBOOK) quanto riportato di seguito:
msg john smith cosa succede?
In questo modo, viene inviato a John Smith il messaggio “cosa succede?”.

Le tariffe sono quelle applicate dal proprio gestore telefonico. E’ possibile usare il servizio con Wind o Vodafone. Al momento non è possibile farlo con Tim.

Chat: chat e messaggi adesso sono riunite in un’unica conversazione. Quando si apre una chat con un amico viene visualizzata l’intera cronologia dei messaggi. Invece inviando un messaggio chat a un amico offline, questo viene registrato nei suoi messaggi.

Project Titan sembra essere un sistema molto completo. Resta però qualche perplessità riguardo alla privacy, soprattutto per l’uso degli SMS, che potrebbero diventare presto nuovo veicolo di spam su Facebook.
