Chi muove Twitter?

Non parliamo di sotterfugi economici e di affari nascosti che fanno andare avanti il social network dell’uccellino, bensì di un ritorno al passato, che vede un forte potere delle élites anche nel mondo dell’informazione sul web e soprattutto dei social network.

Ad analizzare il caso Twitter è stato un recente studio della Cornell University in collaborazione con Yahoo! Research. Sui risultati c’è molto da dire. In primis, è risultato che la metà dei messaggi pubblicati sul social network Twitter viene pubblicata da soli 20.000 utenti, che sono veramente pochi rispetto ai 40 milioni di utenti iscritti al social network quando è stato fatto lo studio, perché parliamo del 0,05% circa.

Il titolo della ricerca è stato “Who says What to Whom on Twitter” ed è stato un percorso lungo 7 mesi che ha sottolineato così la particolarità della comunicazione che passa per questo mezzo e che soprattutto si è basata sui dati particolarmente rilevanti pubblicati nei post di status.
Cornell University in collaborazione con Yahoo! Research hanno rilevato che l’utenza media influenzatrice di Twitter potrebbe essere suddivisa in categorie nette e queste sono: le celebrity (i VIP, che ormai hanno preso Twitter come punto di riferimento), i blogger che hanno sempre avuto voglia di élites, i media tradizionali in avvicinamento ai propri portali, le organizzazioni e poi le persone comuni che sono state quelle meno influenti.

Seppur la prima categoria è quella che attira il numero maggiore di followers, abbiamo sicuramente un interesse più spiccato dei fans, oltre che per i personaggi famosi, per le pagine dei blogger e dei media tradizionali che sono un’ottima fonte di informazioni.
I blogger infatti, sono stati identificati in uno specifico numero di ben 20.000 che si dedicano a Twitter e che nel periodo analizzato hanno portato a termine da soli il ben 50% dei contenuti pubblicati dal social network. Tra questi, anche molti giornalisti.
