City of Eternals, un mondo virtuale popolato da vampiri

Mettete insieme Facebook, Twilight e un vecchio RPG come Diablo e avrete un’idea di questo City of Eternals, mondo virtuale in 2D che permette di giocare tramite Facebook Connect (e presto anche con Twitter). La città degli eterni è New Valencia, scenario dove si svolge gran parte del gioco. La città è popolata di caste di vampiri, ma niente paura, perché tanto lo siete anche voi.

Il gioco ha un intro a fumetti molto gradevole, che vi informa del vostro destino: siete morti a causa del morso di un vampiro e vi stanno seppellendo nel cimitero di New Valencia. Ed è proprio qui che risusciterete, nel cimitero di Valencia dove incontrerete la vostra guida per questa avventura: un pipistrello di nome Batty.

Batty vi dirà che è venuto il momento di scegliere da che parte stare, perché tante sono le caste di vampiri che infestano la città. Antichi vampiri ancorati alle tradizioni, oppure trendsetter modaioli che vivono come rockstar tra feste e balli. Oppure potrete scegliere di stare per i fatti vostri, sovvertire le regole dell’ordine vampiresco oppure creare una casta ex novo con le vostre regole.

City of Eternals è semplice da usare. Il gioco è del tipo “punta e clicca”, e l’animazione è abbastanza scorrevole. Al risveglio troverete nel cimitero altri vampiri, giocatori come voi o gluide che vi assegneranno le quest, cioè gli obiettivi da raggiungere e i nemici da sconfiggere (il vostro primo scontro sarà appunto con gli zombies del cimitero di New Valencia), ma le guide vi mostreranno anche la strada per raggiungere la vostra nuova casa/rifugio, per sfuggire alla luce del sole.

Più si vincono scontri e più si sale di livello, guadagnando crediti per acquistare abiti e oggetti, ma anche mobili per arredare la casa, tra cui una bella vasca criogenica da piazzare nel bagno, non si sa mai. Si possono acquistare amuleti, pozioni, incantesimi, tutto come nel più classico gioco di ruolo. Inoltre, grazie al Facebook Connect è possibile interagire con i propri amici e tenere d’occhio i progressi dei rivali.

City of Eternals è un MMO gratuito e non necessita di download. Unica pecca: il gioco è ancora in beta e può dare problemi soprattutto con l’audio, che ha rallentamenti improvvisi.
