I social network sembravano essere fino a poco tempo fa una moda soltanto occidentale. Molto spesso criticata dai nostri amici della Terra residenti in Oriente, questa moda sta invece cominciando a spopolare anche nei Paesi dagli occhi a mandorla. Tra le reti sociali più diffuse e note nel mondo orientale, sicuramente c’è Mixi. Questo social network di grafica molto vistosa ma molto simile ai social network standard in funzionalità, è stato lanciato al pubblico nel 2004 e fino a metà 2009 (dati forniti fino a giugno), ha raggiunto una quota di iscrizioni pari a 17 milioni di utenti attivi con oltre 15 miliardi di contatti mensili.
La società che gestisce il network è però decisa ad aumentare “notevolmente” il proprio numero di utenti per avere un riflesso immediato di aumento del proprio giro d’affari complessivo.
Questa mossa strategica, non è stata tenuta nascosta, anzi, sembra proprio che con molto entusiasmo, il piano sia stato reso pubblico, oltre che per incentivare le iscrizioni, anche per mostrare probabilmente la forza di Mixi. L’amministratore delegato, nonchè fondatore della società di gestione di Mixi, Mr. Kenji Kasahara, ha dichiarato in una intervista a Reuters tutti i prossimi step che lo staff è pronto a mettere in atto. Le dichiarazioni forti, sono state sottolineate da concetti chiari e precisi: aumento degli iscritti non solo orientali al sito internet, un incremento delle funzioni e di tutti i contenuti del sito, oltre che una nuova ed intensa campagna di marketing.

Per i social network orientali, è proprio una novità quella dell’investimento nell’ambito delle campagne pubblicitarie e del marketing, ma sembra che queste spese stiano già portando ai primi frutti sia in termini economici che in termini di popolarità. Ad oggi, allora, la società è pronta ad investire ben 300 milioni di Yen per la promozione del portale Web, con annessi alcuni servizi non ancora resi noti. L’obiettivo finale comunicato da Kenji Kasahara è un numero: il 30. Significa che in 4 anni si vuole passare dagli attuali 17 milioni di utenti iscritti fino a 30 milioni di iscritti che hanno una continuità quotidiana di connessione.
