Mitt Romney e Facebook: fine di un amore?

Seguendo l’esempio di Barack Obama, anche Mitt Romney aveva cercato di raccogliere consensi su Facebook, e con buoni risultati, almeno fino all’esito delle elezioni presidenziali americane. Ma subito dopo la vittoria di Obama, la pagina Facebook di Romney ha registrato un calo di consensi davvero impressionante, e i “mi piace” hanno rapidamente lasciato il posto ai “non mi piace più”.

Per il San Francisco Chronicle, Mitt Romney ha perso quasi 847 Like all’ora nella notte di martedì, mentre la pagina di Obama ne ha guadagnati altri 900.000. Insomma, se è vero il detto che gli amici si vedono nel momento del bisogno, allora i Facebook Friends non possono essere considerati amici.

Però dobbiamo aggiungere che lo scontro Romney/Obama su Facebook era paragonabile allo scontro tra Davide e Golia. I numeri parlano chiaro, Barack Obama ha molti fan su Facebook e la sua pagina può vantare ben 33.261.409. Invece Mitt Romney all’apice della popolarità aveva solo 12.135.972 like, quasi venti milioni in meno del suo rivale.

Eppure Romney ce l’ha messa tutta per non sfigurare, aggiornando profilo e status con frequenza maggiore rispetto a Obama, non solo durante la campagna elettorale ma anche dopo che i giochi erano fatti. Tuttavia Facebook non ha simpatia per i perdenti.
