In Ohio il primo Live Tweet dalla sala operatoria

L’eventualità di effettuare un Live Tweet durante un intervento chirurgico è stata difficile ma alla fine i medici della State University Medical Center dell’Ohio hanno deciso di procedere. E su Twitter è stato un successo senza precedenti. Il Live Tweet è stato trasmesso durante l’intervento al ginocchio di un paziente. Un intervento poco invasivo tuttavia di grande importanza, perché il suo successo avrebbe evitato al paziente la sostituzione protesica del ginocchio. La cronaca dell’operazione, quindi, aveva finalità sia educative (per i medici), sia finalità informative (per altri pazienti con problemi simili).

La pagina del Live Tweet ha registrato circa 600.000 contatti, confermandosi come un incredibile successo per quella che potremmo definire un esempio di “twitcronaca in camice bianco”. Ma sarebbe sbagliato pensare che l’evento abbia messo in secondo piano l’intervento vero e proprio, o peggio che abbia distratto i medici dal compiere il loro dovere. Al contrario, Twitter è stato usato in maniera molto intelligente, e soprattutto discreta.

Fuori dalla sala operatoria è stata allestita una postazione internet affidata a un operatore, e con lui c’erano un’infermiera e la famiglia del paziente, che ha partecipato attivamente al Live Tweet, informando i followers sull’andamento dell’operazione e rispondendo ai messaggi.
