Larry Page, Facebook ha fatto delle pessime scelte

Nel corso delle ultime ore Wired ha pubblicato un’interessante intervista a Larry Page nella quale oltre a discutere di Motorola e di Apple il co-fondatore di Google ha anche avuto modo di dire la sua su Facebook.

Secondo Larry Page nel variegato ma, al contempo, difficile panorama dei social network c’è spazio sufficiente per più di un protagonista per cui non solo per Facebook, la risorsa di social networking per eccellenza, ma anche per Google+ in grado di ottenere ancora un notevole margine di crescita.

Pur trattandosi sempre di social network i due prodotti sono poi sostanzialmente differenti tra loro.

Considerazioni generiche a parte il CEO di big G non ha però risparmiato qualche aspra critica nei confronti delle strategie messe recentemente in atto da Mark Zuckerberg e dal suo team.

Sono un gruppo molto forte in questo ambito, ma hanno anche fatto delle pessime scelte in termini di prodotti. Il nostro successo deve per forza di cose dipendere dal fallimento di un’altra azienda? Non credo. Stiamo facendo qualcosa di differente. Penso sia sbagliato affermare che c’è posto per un solo protagonista in questo mercato. Quando abbiamo iniziato a occuparci delle ricerche online tutti ci hanno detto “Fallirete, ci sono già cinque altre società che lo fanno”.

Parole di Larry Page a parte è comunque inevitabile non notare come le dichiarazioni del CEO del colosso di Mountain View giungano proprio a poche ore di distanza dalla presentazione ufficiale di Graph Search, il nuovo sistema di ricerca interno a Facebook in grado di fornire direttamente delle risposte alle domande formulate dagli utenti tenendo conto di quelli che sono i propri interessi e, ovviamente, la propria rete di amicizie.

Che il Graph Search abbia smosso qualcosa in quel di Google e che Larry Page ed il suo team abbiano annusato puzza di competitor? È molto proabile.
