Ladro di password chiede il riscatto

E’ successo anche questo. Non ci meravigliamo più ormai, dalla diffusione capillare dei social network e dell’utenza nella rete web che continui ad aumentare il numero dei cyber crimini. Questa volta, il terreno su cui si è consumato il misfatto è Windows Live Messenger.

Questo client di messaggistica istantanea, utilizzato ormai da tanti anni e da moltissime persone, ha fatto la sua fortuna grazie alla semplicità di utilizzo ed alle molteplici funzioni integrate che hanno permesso a molti utenti di scoprire il vantaggio dell’instant messaging. I protagonisti di questa spiacevole vicenda che ha colpito il software, sono due giovanissimi ragazzi che a seguito del crimine commesso, hanno acceso nuovamente una lampadina sul problema di protezione delle password e della privacy.
La storia è questa. Uno dei due ragazzi, un minorenne siciliano di cui i dati non sono stati diffusi per ovvie ragioni, è riuscito tramite gli strumenti di ripristino della nota applicazione a cambiare la password di Messenger di un proprio coetaneo, direttamente on line.

Fin qui, nessun problema grave, nel senso che il ragazzo avrebbe potuto carpire tutti i dati del coetaneo ed il proprietario originale dell’account avrebbe perso tutto. Invece la storia non si è fermata qui. Il “ladro di account”, non si è limitato a rubare, bensì in secondo momento ha contattato il titolare originale dell’account e chiesto un riscatto di 150 euro per restituire l’account al legittimo proprietario.

Il furto virtuale è una delle pratiche più diffuse nel mondo dell’hacking. Una volta rubati i dati personali di una persona, si possono fare atti disastrosi per l’utente, ad esempio vendere in blocco i dati personali degli utenti amici, o ancora rendersi colpevole di reati quali lo stalking o la diffamazione a nome di qualcun’altro.
Ebbene ora sta ai realizzatori dei sistemi il tutelarci. Internet è alla mercé di tutti e di conseguenza, ci vuole sicurezza per evitare che la vita virtuale abbia delle seconde medaglie “reali” che possano influire negativamente sulla società.
