Per chi non sapesse di chi parliamo, Jack Dorsey è il cofondatore di Twitter, colui che di recente sta facendo parlare i giornali di mezzo mondo per aver lanciato la sua “piazza” Square. Altro non è che un piccolo cubo portatile che viene utilizzato come terminale per carte di credito e che è configurato nell’ingresso jack per cuffia dell’iPhone.

 
Questo “giocattolino”, dovrebbe di gran lunga semplificare le transazioni economiche quotidiane sia dal punto di vista dell’acquisto che della vendita.


Ad oggi, Jack Dorsey è risultato il CEO di Twitter fino al 2008, mentro oggi si limita a fare il Chair Man del microblogging. Ma la sua idea nasce ai tempi in cui ha lasciato la poltrona di CEO di Twitter ed incontro Jim McKelvey, un artista di strada della lavorazione del vetro. Egli dichiarò espressamente a Dorsey di aver person ben 2.000 dollari di una vedita solo per non aver potuto accettare al volo un pagamento con carta di credito.

 
L’idea ha cominciato a nascere e grazie agli sviluppatori e soprattutto alle conoscenze di Jack Dorsey in ambiti di grosse aziende e soprattutto di Apple, è arrivato alla produzione dello Square. Una volta deciso che il dispositivo dovesse convertire i segnali audio in segnali codificati ad un software che curasse le transazioni, Dorsey ha ben pensato di fidelizzare ancora più i clienti creando un mercato di account, che permettessero il rapido riconoscimento dei pagamenti e l’accurata selezione degli acquisti per evitare le frodi.

 
Ad oggi, il dispositivo è in versione beta ed è testato in oltre 100 città degli Stati Uniti d’America. Se il gioiellino di elettronica e finanza dovesse funzionale bene, si potrebbe rendere disponibile al mondo intero entro i primi sei mesi dell’anno. C’è da dire che oltre alla vendita dello Square, Dorsey farà contratti per accaparrarsi piccole percentuali su tutte le transazioni.
