Instagram raggiunge 100 milioni di utenti

Il 6 ottobre 2010 nasceva ufficialmente Instagram, l’applicazione faceva il suo debutto su App Store riscuotendo fin da subito un buon successo. 100.000 utenti nella prima settimana, saliti vertiginosamente a 300.000 dopo due settimane dal lancio. Oggi si festeggia invece il traguardo dei 100 milioni di utenti.

Pochi giorni fa è stato tagliato l’ambito traguardo dei 100 milioni di utenti attivi sulla piattaforma, in due anni sono state pubblicate e condivise ben cinque miliardi di fotografie. E’ importante sottolineare che questi numeri di tutto rispetto arrivano ad appena 24 mesi dal lancio, in due anni Instagram si è imposto ed ha superato concorrenti “storici” come Flickr o Picasa per esempio.

Facebook (che proprio in questi giorni ha raggiunto quota un miliardo di utenti) ha acquistato Instagram la scorsa primavera, sborsando circa un miliardo di dollari per accapparsi il software ed i suoi sviluppatori. La tecnologia di Instagram verrà probabilmente usata anche su Facebook (i filtri grafici per le foto sono in arrivo), Zuckerberg inoltre ha dichiarato di voler puntare ancora di più sulla piattaforma di condivisione immagini, Instagram verrà sensibilmente migliorato nei prossimi mesi ed arriveranno nuove funzioni interessanti, come i profili utente per esempio.
