Google rende omaggio a Ada Lovelace, pioniera dell’informatica

Oggi Google rende omaggio alla “madre della programmazione del computer” Augusta Ada Byron King, nota anche come Ada Lovelace, con un doodle che festeggia il 197° anniversario della sua nascita.

Lady Ada, contessa di Lovelace e figlia del poeta romantico Lord Byron, ha posto le basi della programmazione nella metà del XIX secolo, ed è considerata da molti come il primo programatore del computer. Ma sarebbe più giusto dire “programmatrice”, poichè questa aristocratica signora inglese è a tutti gli effetti la prima geek della storia.

Interessata fin da piccola alle scienze matematiche, durante la sua vita Ada Lovelace ha lavorato alla macchina analitica ideata da Charles Babbage, avendo anche tradotto alcune parti del trattato matematico di Luigi Menabrea che riguardavano proprio la macchina di Babbage. E anche se alla fine la macchina non fu mai costruita, l’apporto della Lovelace è stato determinante per gli studi che hanno portato all’odierna evoluzione del computer.

La vita di Ada Lovelace ha ispirato libri e film, tanto da venire citata anche nel romanzo “La macchina della realtà” di William Gibson e Bruce Sterling.
