Presto il mercato dei giochi su Facebook potrebbe subire una battuta di arresto. A dirlo è Jason Kapalka, responsabile di Popcap Games, la casa di sviluppo dietro a capolavori come Zuma, Bejeweled e Plants Vs Zombies (Piante contro Zombie in Italia), titoli che hanno riscosso un enorme successo e che, qualche anno fa, hanno portato alla ribalta il fenomeno dei casual games, poi esploso con tutta la sua forza su Facebook.

Il mercato dei giochi casual su Facebook potrebbe però arrivare presto al picco massimo e raggiungere la saturazione totale nel giro di pochi mesi. Sembra una brutta notizia, ma non è necessariamente un male. Adesso vi spieghiamo perchè…

Attualmente esistono migliaia di giochi su Facebook, prodotti dalle aziende più svariate. Ci sono colossi come Zynga (FarmVille non ha certo bisogno di presentazioni), PopCap, PlayFish ed Electronic Arts (che recentemente ha lanciato due giochi che hanno riscosso un successo planetario, Fifa Superstars e Madden NFL Superstars), oltre a tante piccole realtà minori, che tuttavia spesso pubblicano giochi di scarsa qualità.

Quando il settore raggiungerà il suo picco massimo, le aziende saranno costrette a rivedere i propri piani e a lanciare sul mercato solamente titoli di qualità per evitare di perdere giocatori. Da questo punto di vista, è assolutamente un bene per gli utenti, che si ritroveranno tra le mani solamente giochi validi e divertenti.

Entro pochi mesi quindi, sempre secondo Jason Kapalka, assisteremo ad un fenomeno curioso per quanto riguarda i giochi su Facebook. Molte aziende spariranno ed altre si concentreranno per lanciare sul mercato giochi di altissima qualità, capaci di conquistare un gran numero di giocatori.

Per il momento il mercato dei giochi casual su Facebook è fortemente dominato da Zynga. FarmVille è il titolo più giocato sul social network di Mark Zuckerberg, con ben 80 milioni di giocatori attivi ogni mese. Un numero impressionante, che tuttavia può crescere ancora, se consideriamo che gli iscritti a Facebook sono ben 500 milioni.
