Diverse settimane fa i dipendenti di Facebook furono invitati dai piani alti a cambiare i propri iPhone con smartphone basati sul sistema operativo mobile Android in modo tale da poter potenziare l’app del social network in blu disponibile per l’OS del robottino verde che sino a questo momento era stato messo da parte, o quasi, in favore di iOS.

Conseguenzialmente alla messa in atto di questa sorta di cambio di rotta le applicazioni ufficiali dedicate all’universo Facebook specifiche per Android sono state soggette a non pochi ed importanti miglioramenti.

Alla luce di ciò l’analista Benedict Evans ha pubblicato, proprio durante le ultime ore, le sue statistiche facenti riferimento agli utenti che utilizzano l’applicazione mobile del social network per eccellenza.

Stando a quanto emerso a settembre del 2011 Facebook per Android aveva totalizzato circa 66 milioni di utenti mentre la corrispondente app per iOS aveva toccato la soglia dei 91 milioni.

A novembre del 2012, 11 mesi dopo, gli utenti che si servono dell’applicazione per Android sono cresciuto sino a raggiungere l’incredibile cifra di ben 192,8 milioni, quelli che utilizzano invece l’app Facebook da iOS hanno toccato quota 147,2 milioni.

Diffusione degli smartphone e dei tablet Android a parte appare quindi evidente il fatto che l’impegno da parte del team di Facebook ha dato i suoi frutti e che il numero di utenti che hanno quindi scaricato ed iniziato ad utilizzare un’app fatta su misura per l’OS mobile di Google è effettivamente cresciuto.

È tuttavia molto interessante notare come l’app per device iOS abbia un tasso di penetrazione migliore.

L’applicazione ufficiale di Facebook, infatti, è utilizzata attivamente da circa il 73% dei 200 milioni di dispositivi iOS su cui risulta installata.

Invece, dei 550 milioni di utenti Android che hanno scaricato l’app di Facebook soltanto il 35% di essi se ne serve effettivamente.
