Secondo quanto recentemente stabilito dl Controllore della privacy dell’Unione Europea i servizi di social networking e, in maniera particolare, Facebook d’ora in avanti dovranno necessariamente ottenere il consenso da parte degli utenti che se ne servono per prima di poter proporre eventuali servizi relativi alle foto.

La sicurezza degli utenti che frequentano i social network deve essere garantita in maniera assoluta e per far ciò appare quindi necessario adottare tutte le varie ed eventuali misure necessarie, così come quella in questione.

A finire nell’occhio del ciclone è stato, nello specifico, il riconoscimento facciale automatico di Facebook mediante cui taggare gli utenti sulla base dei volti presenti nelle immagini.

Tale operazione, così come espresso anche da Gerard Lommel, esponente dell’Article 29 Data Protection Working Party, dovrebbe essere effettuata solo e soltanto previo consenso dell’utente interessato e non va quindi a configurarsi come una procedura eseguibile in maniera automatica.

Unitamente a tutto ciò appare poi opportuno mettere in atto appositi controlli grazie ai quali evitare che le informazioni fornite dall’utente vengano utilizzate per scopi ai quali questi non ha prestato il proprio consenso.

Tenendo conto di tali disposizioni il Controllore sembrerebbe quindi aver voluto sancire una volta per tutte la tutela della privacy dell’enorme quantitativo di utenti che, giorno dopo giorno, si ritrovano a navigare online deve essere anteposta sempre e comunque a quelli che sono gli interessi dei gestori di una determinata piattaforma anche qualora tale principio dovesse risultare ostacolante nei confronti di alcune features dello stesso.

Il fatto che Facebook, così come anche altri gestori di piattaforme, abbiano più volte fatto prevalere i propri interessi su quello che, invece, è il “bene” degli utenti non è certo una novità ma d’ora in avanti non sarà più possibile, o almen o così dovrebbe essere, discostarsi dalla nuova linea che, appunto, impone un maggior grado di rispetto per gli internauti.
