Facebook spia i messaggi privati degli utenti per fare pubblicità?

Grazie ad uno studio reso noto giorni fa è stato possibile apprendere che al fine di comprendere i fallimenti delle interazioni Facebook è in grado di leggere anche gli aggiornamenti di stato non pubblicati dagli utenti (non si tratta di magia bensì di monitoraggio invasivo!).

Oltre che leggere gli aggiornamenti di stato mai pubblicati Facebook pare faccia un qualcosa di simile anche con i messaggi privati. Stando infatti a quanto emerso in rete nelle ultime ore Facebook spierebbe i messaggi privati degli utenti per fare pubblicità.

Una class action avviata negli Stati Uniti da Matthew Campbell dell’Arizona e Michale Hurley dell’Oregon ed avanzata da parte di tutti gli utilizzatori di Facebook che in terra a stelle e strisce hanno inviato link nei propri messaggi privati accusa infatti il celebre social network di Mark Zuckerberg di monitorare i messaggi privati degli utenti al fine di vendere dati a chi fa pubblicità. In particolare il social network intercetterebbe i link ad altri siti nei messaggi privati andando quindi ad arricchire il profilo dell’attività online degli amici

A riportare la non proprio lieta novella è stato in primis il Financial Times che ha inoltre provveduto a sottolineare che l’azione legale contro Facebook si basa anche su una ricerca indipendente. Facebook, infatti, è accusato in maniera sistematica di intercettare i messaggi privati per ottenere informazioni da vendere.

La class action punta ad ottere 100 dollari al giorno per il periodo durante il quale la privacy degli utenti sarebbe stata violata o, in alternativa, 10 mila dollari per ogni utente coinvolto.

Al momento non è ancora chiaro come si evolverà la faccenda. Un portavoce del team di Facebook ha però dichiarato: “Le accuse sono infondate e per questo ci difenderemo con tutte le forze“.

  36. When I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I recieve four emails with the exact same comment. There has to be a means you are able to remove me from that service? Thanks.

    Its very well written; I love what youve got
