Facebook sotto accusa per aver violato la legge sulle intercettazioni negli Stati Uniti

Circa un mese fa, a proposito di Facebook, aveva iniziato a diffondersi la news concernente l’utilizzo di un cookie “spione” mediante cui il team del ben noto social network in blu sarebbe stato in grado di tracciare l’operato online dei propri utenti anche una volta effettuato il processo di disconnessione dal servizio.

Zuck e, ovviamente, l’intero team di Facebook avevano però risposto alle accuse negandone l’effettiva veridicità e fornendo inoltre una spiegazione concernente il comportamento e, in particolar modo, il motivo dell’utilizzo del cookie in questione.

A detta di Facebook, infatti, l’utilizzo di tale cookie viene impostato solo e soltanto quando un dato utente effettua il suo primo accesso al social network in modo tale da poter quindi identificare le eventuali login ed attività sospette ed al fine di incrementare la sicurezza dell’utente in questione e di quella di tutti gli altri iscritti al ben noto servizio.

Frattanto, però, sono comunque state apportate alcune modifiche a Facebook al fine di ovviare nel migliore dei modi alle sempre più forti lamentele a riguado ma, a quanto pare, ciò non sembrerebbe esse bastato, almeno secondo l’opinione di un ampio numero di utenti, in particolar modo negli Stati Uniti.

Tra non molto, infatti, Facebook dovrà fare i conti la denuncia di una donna del Missisipi che spera di trasformare poi in una class action dando inoltre appoggio agli innumerevoli utenti arrabbiati.

L’oggetto della denuncia, sostanzialmente, fa riferimento alla violazione della privacy policy da parte del social networks stesso in quanto la donna in questione, così come molti utenti, non avrebbe mai accordato alcun permesso affinché Facebook continuasse a tracciare le sue attività online anche dopo aver effettuato il logut.

La donna si aspetta che Facebook rimedi alla spiacevole vicenda mediante un risarcimento ma, almeno allo stato attuale delle cose, non è ancora possibile sapere se il danno monetario della querelante possa essere effettivamente quantificato.
