Project Titan a rischio privacy?

L’annuncio della nascita di Project Titan, il servizio di messaggistica centralizzato targato Facebook ha suscitato commenti entusiastici in tutto il mondo. Tuttavia sarebbe sbagliato accettare passivamente ogni commento senza porci domande su una questione delicata come quella della privacy.

Il problema della privacy è molto sentito dai blogger di IoChatto, soprattutto quando riguarda il social network di Facebook, che già in passato ha mostrato scarsa attenzione per i nostri dati personali. E torna prepotentemente alla ribalta con l’arrivo di Titan. Proprio ieri abbiamo detto che, in qualche modo, Project Titan somiglia a Google Wave. Ma Wave non è l’unico prodotto di casa Google che può essere accostato all’ultimo nato di casa Facebook.

Chi di voi ricorda Google Buzz? Ebbene, quando Buzz arrivò sul mercato, circa otto mesi fa, la stampa specializzata affermò che Google aveva rivoluzionato il social networking con l’integrazione del microblogging all’interno di Gmail. Ma Buzz non ebbe il successo sperato, anzi il servizio di Google fu letteralmente inondato di lamentele da parte degli utenti che vedevano esposte pubblicamente le loro email e le informazioni personali, e di conseguenza venivano continuamente bersagliati dallo spam.

Oggi Facebook tenta l’esperimento contrario, integrando l’email all’interno del social network, e viene spontaneo chiederci se anche stavolta la tutela dei dati personali verrà compromessa.

“Facebook Mail sarà meno invasiva“, promette Zuckerberg, ma resta il timore che venga fatto uno scanning dei contenuti con finalità pubblicitarie, così da ritrovarci nuovamente sommersi dallo spam.

D’altronde, se Facebook sembra imitare sempre più i prodotti Google, perché limitarsi a Wave o a Buzz, quando si può copiare addirittura AdWords?
