Facebook desidera potenziare il più possibile la sua presenza nel settore del commercio elettronico e proprio per questa ragione nel corso degli ultimi giorni ha annunciato e lanciato Marketplace.

Trattasi di un nuovo servizio disponibile stesso all’interno del social network mediante cui gli iscritti a Facebook possono vendere e comprare prodotti tra loro. Si tratta insomma dell’evoluzione dei servizi legati all’e-commerce già presenti all’interno della piattaforma.

L’icona di Marketplace dovrebbe, nei prossimi giorni, sostituire l’icona di Messenger all’interno dell’app mobile di Facebook. Ad accesso effettuato, l’app evidenzia una serie di prodotti a cui l’utente potrebbe essere interessato. La vetrina viene generata automaticamente grazie ad un algoritmo che impara a conoscere i gusti degli iscritti. Gli utenti possono contattare i venditori e lasciare un’offerta d’acquisto.

Per vendere un oggetto, basta invece caricare una foto, impostare un nome, descrizione, ed il prezzo. È poi possibile sfogliare le categorie di oggetti e ottenere un elenco di annunci riguardanti inserzioni di iscritti che si trovano nelle vicinanze. Gli utenti potranno inoltre cercare oggetti ampliando il raggio di ricerca. È poi possibile modificare la posizione per trovare gli oggetti in altre città o regioni.

Da notare che per il momento il servizio risulta fruibile solo ed esclusivamente negli Stati Uniti, nel Regno Unito, in Australia e in Nuova Zelanda. Gli altri paesi potranno fruire di Marketplace soltanto in un secondo momento, in un periodo al momento non meglio specificato. Inoltre, Facebook Marketplace risulta disponibile solamente per i dispositivi mobile. Al momento la funzionalità non arriverà dunque sui desktop anche se in futuro potrebbe essere implementata.
