Facebook e tutela dei minori

Oggi tocchiamo un argomento scottante, che riguarda la sicurezza sul web di quelli più deboli. Stiamo parlando dei minori, che con la nascita dei social network sono posti a rischi sempre maggiori rispetto a tutti gli utenti iscritti. La polemica si sta scatenando soprattutto nell’ultimo periodo, momento in cui nel mondo sono più che raddoppiati i casi di sparizioni e sevizie purtroppo sui minori.

Per questo motivo, Mozelle Thompson, Chief privacy advertiser di Facebook ha dichiarato pubblicamente che: “Ogni giorno Facebook banna circa 20mila profili falsi di utenti che mentono sulla loro età per accedere con un profilo proprio al social network”.

Questa frase ha avuto anche un altro effetto soprattutto psicologico sui milioni di utenti minorenni che ogni giorno si fingono di essere maggiorenni su Facebook, e quindi avendo dei profili falsi. Il loro timore è quello di perdere il profilo con cui si divertono quotidianamente, ma non pensano alla loro sicurezza.

Nelle nuove politica di tutela e protezione della privacy e della sicurezza, il social network ha deciso di seguire una linea dura contro i falsi profili e soprattutto contro quei profili che potrebbero risultare rischiosi. Importante per loro, nelle amicizie, quando un utente maggiorenne ha molti amici minorenni (parliamo di under 18), e viene messo per questo motivo sotto controllo. Questa come tutela per tutelare i minori sarebbe solo però una piccola mano, rispetto a quello che ancora si può fare. La lotta intrapresa da Zuckerberg e compagni sarebbe contro gli under 12 che continuano a creare profili da maggiorenni per potere entrare sotto mentite spoglie in zone rosse. Secondo ComScore, dagli ultimi dati rilevati, su Facebook ci sarebbero oltre 3 milioni e mezzo di bambini che al di sotto dei 12 anni, gestiscono il proprio profilo andando incontro a rischi degli adulti. Fatto sta che tra le nuove policy, per gli USA almeno, all’iscrizione si dovrà fornire il codice fiscale per il riconoscimento.

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
