Facebook vuole aprire anche agli under 13

Al fine di riuscire ad allargare ulteriormente il numero di iscritti a Facebook Mark Zuckerberg e la sua squadra hanno scelto di puntare tutto (o quasi) sui giovanissimi, su coloro che hanno meno di 13 anni.

Ad annunciarlo è stato il noto sito di informazione USA Politico.com. Il team del social network avrebbe infatti presentato domanda di brevetto per aggirare la legge del 1998, il Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act., in modo tale da aprire Facebook agli under 13.

Forse non tutti ne sono a conoscenza ma esiste una legge per la tutela dei bambini online in base alla quale, per l’appunto, è previsto che le aziende ricevano il nulla osta dei genitori per poter accogliere o condividere informazioni personali dei giovani under 13.

Se il brevetto dovesse essere approvato anche i più piccoli potrebbero quindi accedere al social network previa autorizzazione dei genitori che potrebbero impostare il livello di privacy, limitare i contenuti e la loro visibilità nonché le liste di amici e l’accesso ad applicazioni terze. Si tratterebbe quindi di una sorta di parental control per permettere la sorveglianza da parte dei genitori ai loro figli giovanissimi che volessero iscriversi al social network.

Facebook potrebbe dunque guadagnare milioni di nuovi utenti e puntare su un nuovo target ampliando i servizi offerti ed andando ad allargare contestualmente il suo business pubblicitario.

Per il momento non vi è ancora nulla di certo riguardo l’effettiva apertura di Facebook agli under 13 ma le critiche e le perplessità già abbondano. Alcuni analisti si chiedono infatti come possa fare un genitore ad amministrare le attività dei figli su Facebook non potendoli controllare di continuo senza contare poi il fatto che ci sarebbero non pochi dubbi su come verificare la reale identità dei genitori.
