Facebook, approvato il primo brevetto di Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg

Di tempo ne è passato un bel po’ ma, finalmente, Mark Zuckerberg è riuscito ad ottenere un brevetto che venne registrato presso l’US Patent and Trademark Office nell’oramai lontanto 2006.

Il brevetto in questione va ad assumere particolare valore, così come anche la sua approvazione, poiché andava e va tutt’ora a configurarsi come il primo in assoluto della serie, il primo che il giovane Zuckerberg richiese, all’epoca, di registrare.

La richiesta per il brevetto in quesitone, siglato come 8,225,376 , venne effettuata da Mark Zuckerberg e Chris Kelly, ex chief privacy officer di Facebook, esattamente il 25 luglio 2006.

Il brevetto in questione, attenendosi a quella che è la descrizione ufficiale, fa riferimento ad un particolare sistema studiato al fine di generare dinamicamente elementi dedicati alla privacy.

Nello specifico il profilo di un utente viene generato e ad esso vengono associate tutta una serie di impostazioni sulla privacy.

Il profilo associato viene quindi aggiornato tenendo conto di una o più selezioni delle impostazioni facenti riferimento alla tutela dei dati personali che sono state scelte dal proprietario dell’account.

Pur risultando apparentemente complicato da comprendere il brevetto in questione serve, per dirla in maniera ben più semplice, per poter visualizzare il profilo di un dato utente in base alle impostazioni sulla privacy scelte dallo stesso.

Durante tutto questo tempo, comunque, la domanda di brevetto non ha avuto vita facile: è stata più volte rigettata per alcuni punti giudicati ovvi ed è stata poi rivista e di nuovo proposta da Facebook perché venisse definitivamente approvata.

In ogni caso, oltre che per la soddisfazione di veder approvato il suo primo brevetto, quanto accaduto nel corso delle ultime ore potrebbe rivelarsi particolarmente importante ed interessante per Zuckerberg relativamente alle non troppo lontane accuse di Yahoo! nei confronti del social network in blu e della sua presunta violazione di proprietà intellettuale.
