Facebook, addio alla chat su iOS ed Android

Gli utenti che utilizzano l’app Facebook per iOS ed Android e che ancora non hanno installato l’app Facebook Messenger sul proprio smartphone nel corso delle ultime ore hanno cominciato a visualizzare una notifica che comunica della prossima disattivazione della chat.

Infatti, così come comunicato, entro le prossime due settimane la chat di Facebook sarà rimossa dall’app principale del social network. Dai prossimi giorni sarà quindi possibile chattare con i propri amici da mobile solo ed esclusivamente mediante Facebook Messenger.

Gli utenti che hanno intenzione di continuare ad utilizzare la chat di Facebook da mobile dovranno dunque provvedere ad effettuare il download dell’app Facebook Messenger.

Facebook ha tuttavia previsto delle eccezioni alla regola. Nei seguenti tre casi gli utenti non dovranno utilizzare Facebook Messenger per chattare con gli amici e potranno quindi continuare a farlo dall’app principale così come avvenuto sino a questo momento:

  • In caso di utilizzo di uno smartphone Android di fascia bassa con poca RAM.
  • In caso di utilizzo di uno smartphone Windows Phone.
  • In caso di utilizzo di un tablet.

Ma perchè il team di Facebook ha deciso di rimuovere la chat dall’app principale del social network? Innanzitutto perchè la funzionalità di messaggistica viene considerata da Mark Zuckerberg e dalla sua squadra come un’esperienza di seconda classe e poi perchè l’utilizzo di un’app dedicata quale, appunto, Facebook Messenger consente di rispondere ai messaggi in modo molto più rapido. L’app standalone può inoltre essere aggiornata con maggiore facilità con l’introduzione di nuove funzioni e caratteritiche. Integrare tutto nell’app principale comporta infatti un lavoro di sviluppo più impegnativo perché bisogna ottimizzare il codice in modo da evitare di rallentare la sua esecuzione.
