Facebook acquisizione Waze

Dopo aver messo a segno, lo scorso anno, la ricca acquisizione di Instagram ora Facebook potrebbe far proprio anche Waze, il social network dedicato alla guida e al traffico.

Waze, per chi non lo sapesse, è una società israeliana che sviluppa e distribuisce l’omonima applicazione in grado di attingere alle informazioni GPS e di coinvolgere gli utenti nella segnalazione delle condizioni del traffico, di eventuali incidenti o di vari altri eventi ed intoppi durante la guida.

Non si tratta comunque di una dichiarazione ufficiale ed a suggerire la cosa sono state le indiscrezioni dell’ultim’ora secondo cui l’affare sarebbe oramai prossimo alla conclusione.

Il valore stimato per l’acquisizione risulta compresso tra 800 milioni e 1 miliardo di dollari.

Considerando che Waze è, allo stato attuale delle cose, una tra le app per device mobile Android e iOS più diffuse e che può contare su ben 50 milioni di utenti attivi una volta acquisita da Facebook potrebbe garantire al social network in blu ulteriori centinaia di milioni di utenze.

L’integrazione del servizio sulle app di Facebook non permetterà a Mark Zuckerberg ed alla sua squadra di guadagnare solo qualche utente in più ma anche di avere a propria disposizione un potente strumento di geolocalizzazione.

L’acquisizione porterebbe infatti dati aggiuntivi sulle mappe andando inoltre a migliorare il tracciamento degli spostamenti.

Con l’acquisizione Facebook ne guadagnerebbe anche nel settore mobile che più volte Mark Zuckerberg ha dichiarato di voler migliorare.

Se si considera tutto ciò si capisce chiaramente come la presunta acquisizione in questione abbia un enorme potenziale pari addirittura a quello di Instagram e la valutazione da 1 miliardo di dollari ne è la prova più evidente.

Per il momento, comunque, da parte delle aziende coinvolte non sono arrivate né conferme né smentite.

Da notare che questa non è la prima volta che circolano voci inerenti le intenzioni di Facebook di acquisire Waze.
