Questo si aggiunge ai sistemi di condivisione file già presenti sugli smartphone Android e iPhone. Come notato da WABetaInfo, la versione beta (2.24.2.20) di WhatsApp per Android presenta la funzione di condivisione file che funziona su dispositivi nelle vicinanze ed entrambi devono avere la schermata Persone nelle vicinanze aperta per inviare o ricevere file. Se le persone non hanno il numero di telefono dell’altra persona nelle vicinanze, i loro dispositivi non saranno reciprocamente visibili.

Inoltre, per creare una richiesta di condivisione, una delle due persone che desiderano condividere file in modalità wireless tra loro deve aprire la schermata Persone nelle vicinanze e scuotere il proprio dispositivo. Questo ci ricorda un’app per iPhone di condivisione file chiamata Bump che era piuttosto popolare nel 2011. Questa funzionalità imminente apparentemente supporta dimensioni di file fino a 2 GB. Questa funzionalità è ancora in fase di test internamente a WhatsApp e potrebbe essere rilasciata agli utenti entro la fine dell’anno.
