Con Kickbee ora è possibile twittare dalla pancia della mamma

Kickbee non è fantascienza, ma solo l’ultima invenzione di un padre molto apprensivo e appassionato di internet. Si tratta infatti di un dispositivo elettronico inventato dal futuro papà Corey Menscher per essere costantemente informato sui movimenti del bambino nella pancia della mamma.

The Kickbee is a wearable device made of a stretchable band and embedded electronics and sensors. Piezo sensors are attached directly to the band, and transmit small but detectable voltages when triggered by movement underneath. An Arduino Mini microcontroller transmits the signals to an accompanying Java application wirelessly via Bluetooth (Bluetooth). (a SparkFun BlueSMIRF v2 module that communicates serially with a Macbook Pro)

The Java application receives the sensor values and analyzes them. When a kick event is detected, a Twitter (Twitter) message is posted via the Twitter API. I chose to use Twitter because it is easy to initiate an SMS message to any mobile phone when a kick is detected. It also acts as a data log that can be accessed programmatically for visualization or archiving.


Insomma Kickbee manda un messaggio su Twitter ogni volta che il bambino dà un calcio, un twitt come “I kicked mommy at…” seguito dall’ora precisa. Per rendere possibile tutto questo la mamma in attesa indossa una cintura collegata a sensori elettronici in grado di rilevare i movimenti del bambino. I sensori segnalano poi la natura di questi movimenti ad un’applicazione Java che li trasmettono su Twitter. Poi questi messaggi da Twitter raggiugono il papà sul cellulare, via SMS.

Dimostrazione d’affetto di un papà preoccupato, o ennesima testimonianza che Twitter è già nella nostra vita, ancora prima di nascere?
