Videochiamata su Facebook

La videochiamata ha debuttato su Facebook nella giornata di ieri, Mark Zuckerberg ha tenuto un evento speciale per annunciare il lancio di questa nuova funzione, realizzata in collaborazione con Skype.

Inutile dire che gli utenti del social network più famoso del mondo hanno accolto molto positivamente questa funzionalita’, quello che a molti non è chiaro però è come attivare la videochat, ma state tranquilli, ci pensiamo noi a risolvere il dubbio con questo mini tutorial guidato.

La prima cosa da chiarire è che la videochat è già disponibile su Facebook, non si tratta di una funzione sperimentale che arriverà nei prossimi mesi, la videochiamata è già realtà. La prima cosa da fare per attivare il servizio è andare sulla pagina dedicata, completamente tradotta in italiano, da qui basta premere il pulsante verde “per iniziare”, questa azione scaricherà il plugin FacebookVideoCallSetup.exe da installare nel browser.

Il plugin è disponibile solamente per Windows, compatibile con Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer e Google Chrome, purtroppo Opera non è compatibile. La cosa importante da chiarire è che i possessori di un Mac non dovranno scaricare nulla, chi usa OS X deve semplicemente cliccare sul tasto verde per iniziare a videochiamare, niente di più semplice. Non ho potuto provare il servizio con Linux, ma da quello che leggo in rete non c’è bisogno di configurare alcun plugin.

Una volta installato il plugin, siamo pronti per partire, per iniziare una videochiamata basta selezionare un contatto nella chat e premere l’icona a forma di telecamera. L’amico riceverà una richiesta e, se non l’ha ancora fatto, verrà invitato a configurare il servizio. Se il nostro contatto non è in linea o non risponde possiamo lasciare un video messaggio, come succede con una tradizionale segreteria telefonica.

Al momento purtroppo non è possibile fare videochiamate di gruppo, questa funziona probabilmente verrà aggiunta in un secondo momento.
