Canada: Facebook deve tutelare di più gli utenti

FacebookAlla fine, il verdetto della commissione Canadese sul problema privacy è stato stabilito: Facebook deve rivedere i suoi termini d’uso e modalità di disattivazione dell’account utente. E’ questo ciò che possiamo leggere nei report ufficiali. La società di Zuckerberg ha risposto bene alle direttive canadesi e ha iniziato a mettersi al lavoro. 12 mesi, questo è il tempo che sarà necessario a modificare il tutto. Un lavoro che non coinvolge solo il social network ma anche tutti i servizi e aziende ad esso correlate.

Facebook si impegnerà a:

  • Aggiornare la Privacy Policy per descrivere meglio una serie di pratiche, comprese le ragioni per la raccolta di date di nascita, commemorazione degli utenti deceduti, la distinzione tra la disattivazione dell’account e cancellazione, e l’impiego delle pubblicità nel sito.
  • Incoraggiare gli utenti a rivedere le proprie impostazioni di privacy per assicurarsi che le impostazioni predefinite e scelte riflettonano le preferenze dell’utente.
  • Migliorare la comprensione e il controllo dell’ utente sulle informazioni accessibili da applicazioni di terze parti. In particolare, Facebook presenta un nuovo modello di permessi che richiedono alle applicazioni di specificare le categorie di informazioni che si desiderano accedere e ottenere il consenso esplicito da parte dell’utente prima che i dati sono condivisi. Inoltre, l’utente dovrà anche approvare specificamente qualsiasi accesso alle informazioni dei loro amici.

I lavori per le modifiche inizieranno immediatamente. Tuttavia, alcune di ess necessiteranno del tempo prima che siano visibili. Ad esempio, gli aggiornamenti per la Privacy Policy richiederanno un periodo di preavviso e di commento per gli utenti. Inoltre, i cambiamenti di come gli utenti possano condividere informazioni con le applicazioni di terze parti richiedono molto tempo, sia per l’aggiornamento e la sperimentazione delle nuove API di Facebook, e per gli sviluppatori di applicazioni di terze parti di riprogrammare e testare le proprie applicazioni. Facebook anticipa l’intero processo durerà circa 12 mesi.
