About.me, un biglietto da visita virtuale con i tuoi social networks

La volta scorsa vi abbiamo spiegato come trasformare in un mini sito la pagina di Flavors.me, l’aggregatore sociale che permette di aggiungere i feeds di quasi tutti i social network in una homepage visibile a tutti. Oggi invece vi spieghiamo come usare al meglio il suo più diretto concorrente, ovvero About.me che vi permette di creare un biglietto da visita online con tutti i link ai social networks preferiti.

About.me è meno conosciuto di Flavors.me ma, se paragonato a quest’ultimo, presenta una marcia in più: la possibilità di scegliere se “embeddare” i propri feed e social (cioè incorporare i contenuti nella pagina About.me) oppure fornire solo un link ad essi, spingendo gli interessati a visitare direttamente il sito.

Per il resto i due servizi sono abbastanza simili. La procedura per personalizzare il layout e pressoché identica, anche se Flavors.me consente una maggiore flessibilità. E anche l’elenco dei social da aggregare alla pagina è più o meno lo stesso (Flickr, FaceBook, Posterous, LinkedIn, Blogger, Twitter, FourSquare, YouTube, WordPress, Tumblr, Typepad, Formspring). Ma About.me risolve una problematica che da tempo affligge Flavors.me: la possibilità di incorporare non solo i blog ma anche i Tumblr degli utenti.

Infatti la procedura di aggregazione di Tumblr su Flavors.me non funziona. Purtroppo si tratta di un bug ormai noto, causato proprio da Tumblr, tanto che gli amministratori di Flavors.me consigliano di aggregare solo il feed RSS del tumblelog, anziché aggiungere Tumblr come servizio. Purtroppo, facendo così si ottiene una timeline molto disordinata, e poco piacevole da sfogliare. Con About.me invece la procedura funziona alla perfezione.

Altro vantaggio di About.me è la possibilità di farsi contattare tramite email da chi visita la nostra pagina. Anche Flavors.me ha questa funzione, con la differenza che qui è a pagamento.

In breve sia Flavors.me che About.me sono due ottimi servizi per creare un profilo sociale online, una specie di biglietto da visita digitale. Sta a voi scegliere se e dove presentare agli amici tutti i vostri networks preferiti.

  14. obviously like your web site however you have to test the spelling on quite a few of your posts.

  33. When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time
    a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment.
    Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
