In una recente intervista andata in onda sulla BBC Mark Zuckerberg ha ribadito di non temere Google Plus. Il fondatore di Facebook è contento che anche Google abbia deciso di scendere in campo, tuttavia Zuck è sicuro che Plus non arrecherà molti danni alla sua creatura.

Facebook è il luogo migliore per condividere le informazioni sulla propria vita, milioni di persone lo hanno già fatto, lo fanno tutti i giorni e continueranno a farlo, queste le parole di Mark Zuckerberg.

Il concetto è chiaro, Google Plus è ottimo social network ma non riuscirà mai ad essere un rivale credibile per Facebook, almeno secondo Zuckerberg. E’ vero che Facebook ha ormai conquistato tutto il mondo, con oltre 800 milioni di utenti iscritti, Google Plus però sta crescendo bene, le statistiche recenti evidenziano una crescita costante, anche se non elevatissima.

Google sta lavorando sodo per aggiornare e migliorare Plus, le recenti migliorie apportate a Gmail e YouTube per esempio sono state fatte proprio con l’ottica di integrare meglio GPlus nei principali servizi di Big G. Facebook dal canto suo non sta certo a guardare, tra nuovi layout, la Timeline e l’acquisizione di Gowalla, il lavoro di certo non manca negli uffici di Palo Alto.

E’ difficile prevedere cosa succederà in futuro, Facebook ha dalla sua 800 milioni di iscritti (il prossimo traguardo è quello del miliardo di utenti) mentre Google Plus non è ancora arrivato a 50 milioni. L’egemonia di Facebook sembra totale, ricordiamoci però cosa è successo a MySpace, i 300 milioni di utenti hanno rapidamente abbandonato la piattaforma non appena è arrivato qualcosa di nuovo.

Questo potrebbe ripetersi con Facebook? Non lo sappiamo, quel “qualcosa di nuovo” però potrebbe essere rappresentato proprio dal social network di Google. Nei prossimi mesi la battaglia si farà serratissima e noi continueremo ad aggiornarvi su questa guerra virtuale.
