Oggi esaminiamo uno dei social network “alternativi” e soprattutto geolocalizzati che sta riscuotendo un interessante successo in Europa del nord e nello specifico in Olanda. Questo ci fa capire, che Facebook, seppur essendo uno dei leader del mercato con un’utenza superiore a tutte le medie, ha anche dei piccoli competitor locali che raggiungono un bel po’ di utenza.

 

Stiamo parlando di Hyves, il social network più popolare in Olanda e tra gli Olandesi. Stiamo parlando di una realtà fondata nel 2004 da Raymond Spanjar, Koen Kam, e Floris Rost van Tonningen, che nel maggio del 2010 aveva raggiunto una media di 10,3 milioni di account, che corrispondono a circa due terzi di tutta la popolazione olandese che conta oltre 16 milioni di abitanti.

 

Hyves è un social network che ha una duplice possibilità di accesso, quella gratuita ed anche una opzioni di abbonamento a pagamento chiamata Premium, riconosciuta come GoldMembership.

 

Il social network funziona come tutti gli altri, ovvero con un profilo, la possibilità di scambiarsi foto e video oltre che di commentare a vicenda i post. Inoltre tutti i GoldMembers, avranno delle possibilità extra oltre che delle funzioni, come la possibilità di utilizzare le faccine nei commenti oppure di avere più spazio per l’upload dei file multimediali. I creatori del progetto, Raymond Spanjar, Koen Kam, e Floris Rost van Tonningen, hanno assicurato che la versione free del social network resterà per sempre.
